Todd Snyder Runs 2019 Boston Marathon and Raises $6,500 for the Hopkinton Public Library!

I am enthusiastic to be running in the 123rd Boston Marathon supporting the Hopkinton Public Library!

Living in the downtown area of Hopkinton, my family and I frequently watch the start of the marathon. My eldest daughter, having just turned 5 at the time and watching the elite women prepare to run, asked if I would ever run the marathon. It was a very innocent question that has had a profound effect on me since. I started to run, entered as many 5k races as I could and even participated in the Marathon Relay around Hopkinton. My goal has always been to run the Boston Marathon and it’s amazing that I have the opportunity to further help the community I love.

I am an avid reader, but not in the way you classically think. I listen to audiobooks on my commute to and from my office, shoveling the driveway, or on runs. Reading is very important to my family. Our playroom is a virtual children’s library organized by genre. Our Christmas Eve is spent celebrating the icelandic tradition of Jolabokaflod or “Yule Book Flood” as we all receive new books as a gift and sit by the fire with a small piece of chocolate and read together.

My girls have grown up exploring the library shelves and programming, shaping much of their lives as thinkers and readers and continue to utilize the new meeting space for Girl Scout meetings. The value the library has for all families in immeasurable. It is truly an honor to support the Hopkinton Public Library Foundation. As a community, Hopkinton has recently rallied to support the building of our new facility. It is critical we continue to support growth and development to ensure that our progress does not fall idle and that future generations benefit as well.

Thank you for your support of the Hopkinton Public Library and my Boston Marathon dream. There is a good chance you will see me on the training runs around town. If not running, I frequently work from the library when I work from home. I hope to see you to thank you in person – your support is essential.
